As a florid, Ruza spent a great period of time as nothing more than an over sized flower. Few lucky florids ever make it past this phase, but luck had little to do with Ruza's survival, rather he was protected for ninety five of those years. He wasn't aware of who protected him, or even that he was protected, but he never would've survived had it not been for this guarding.
Finally, he bloomed in the Song Forest of Vystrania. The blooming was a disorienting process to say the least. One minute he was nothing but an inanimate rose, and the next minute he had arms, legs, eyes, and intelligence. He wandered the Song Forest for just under two years before making his way to Vanim. However he never really entered Vanim, just stuck around on the outskirts. This was where he stayed for the majority of his life after blooming, slowly learning as much as he could from the small conversations he'd listen to. Eventually he gained a weak understanding of the common language and an even poorer understanding of elven, and it was at that point that he finally decided to test it out. He attempted communication with a small elven child, viewing the small ones as less of a threat. This ended up being a mistake, leading to the parents of the child appearing rather suddenly and attacking the rose out of fear that he was attacking their child. Thanks in part to the bright sun, Ruza managed to escape, but the event left him with a particular fear towards interaction.
